Child Abuse Inquiry

Lady Butler Sloss who was the first grandee to be forced to resign from the Chair of this Inquiry, made remarks on the radio this morning suggesting that it was wrong to allow the victims to have influence over the choice of Chairperson and that unless the successful candidate was from the Establishment, it probably could not take place.

Unfortunately she misses the point. The reason that the Establishment cannot supply the Chair is that it is the Establishment which is the subject of the inquiry. It was from it that the abuse was orchestrated, it was by it that it was covered up and it is against it that public outrage and anger is directed.
